VSO India International Volunteer Day Celebrations

6-9 December 2012

YEY! VSO India celebrated the International Volunteer Day (IVD) through a series of events and activities in Delhi. It's a day to honor all the international volunteers all around the globe. As part of the celebrations, in-country volunteers based in States outside Delhi were called back to re-unite with Delhi-based volunteers for a day of fun and stress-free sessions of games and reflections.

The IVD celebration has paved the way for in-country VSO India volunteers to get to know more about each other, the work that we do, and the challenges that we have faced/been facing while volunteering here in India.

Volunteers Dinner Night Out at MBs in Defence Colony

Apart from spending time with co-volunteers (too bad not all of us made it to Delhi), the IVD celebrations by VSO India also aimed to raise awareness about active citizenship and volunteering among Indians, especially those in Delhi. International volunteers also participated in the volunteer mela (fair) to share experiences with people interested in national volunteering.

The volunteer mela was then followed by a rock concert with Naysa and Indian Ocean. I barely understood what they were singing but the rhythm and the level of performance was interesting!

followed by South Delhi Mayor on how people should support
charitable activities to help people (before the concert began)

Rock Band Naysa - loved their music!

Rock Band Indian Ocean - definitely not what I expected!

Closing time: thanking the performers and felicities
